Rotomac 360
The machine itself is the most crucial piece for cleaning an escalator. In essence, there are a lot of options. The Rotomac 360 is one approach I advise.
The Rotomac 360 cleaning machine includes a powerful vacuuming system that can pick up dust, muck, and grime easily. The cleaning machine utilizes eleven revolving bristle brushes to stir up the dirt in the tread area that traditional brushes and brooms alone are unable to reach.
Process
In this process, the smallest amount of cleaning solution should be applied so that the escalator is not over-wet with solution that will not get into the “grease pit” area of the escalator. Moisture of any type that drains between the steps enters the grease pit area. There, lubrication can be lost and cause potential damage to the system.
A highly effective cleaning solution will swiftly dry and be able to remove dirt and stains from metal with ease. It is acceptable to use an all-purpose cleaner, but it is preferable to read the manufacturer's directions to be sure. In either scenario, use escalator cleaning equipment cautiously and let the cleaning solution dry completely before adding chemicals.
The Duplex 550
The machine is safe and easy to use. It was manufactured in Italy and is the only machine that allows for both dry and wet cleaning of escalator steps and people movers.
The Duplex 550 incorporates a patented auto guide system that keeps the machine in precise alignment on all types of escalators and moving steps. You would never consider only dust mopping your floors if you could also wet mop them to ensure a much more thorough cleaning. Now there is no need to compromise on your escalators.
Process
The Duplex's dry cleaning cycle loosens the dirt on the steps and quickly removes and collects all the loose dirt, lint, and dust by an integral vacuum system. The wet cleaning cycle then sprays a specially formulated cleaner to continue the cleaning cycle and to wash off and remove all the grease, oil, soda, and other dried stains and dirt that are never addressed during the dry cycle.
Our specially designed brushes are custom-made to fit into the treads of each specific make of the escalator, allowing them to efficiently clean the grooved surfaces of the tread without chipping paint, removing the powder coating, scratching the surface, or damaging the metal steps. The end result is perfectly cleaned escalator steps!
